Techart’s Porsche Cayenne Body Kit Sure Is Something
  • Techart has created a new body kit for the facelifted third-generation Cayenne.
  • Made from carbon fiber, the kit includes components for the front and rear fascias, side sills, and hood.
  • Pricing and availability for the kit will be announced at a later date.

It’s not easy finding the right balance of aggression and style with aftermarket upgrades, but Techart just might have it with this new Porsche Cayenne body kit. Simply called the Aero Kit I, it’s designed specifically for facelifted third-generation (E3) models. The changes are subtle, but the impact is noticeable.

At the front, you’ll find a modest chin spoiler at the base of the fascia. It adds winglets on the edges, complementing new rocker trim also has winglets ahead of the rear wheels. There are more winglets at the back, part of a tweaked rear fascia that adds a diffuser. Further up are small lip spoilers for the hatch, and there’s a new carbon fiber hood that accentuates the Cayenne’s existing body lines from the grille to the windshield.

Techart

According to Techart, the upgrades go beyond visual appeal. The company says aerodynamics are better balanced with the kit, and handling is improved as well. There aren’t any specifics to back up those claims, but how many people are taking their Cayennes to the track? Honestly, we’re in this purely for the aesthetics.

If you do want more, Techart reminds us there are wheel upgrades and a throaty exhaust system that puts more bass in the Cayenne’s voice. The tuner also has a performance kit that adds as much as 66 horsepower under the hood.

A bit more power might be desirable if you have a base model Cayenne, but there’s still 348 hp on tap from its turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 in stock trim. The other end of the spectrum is the bonkers 729-hp Turbo E-Hybrid, a vehicle in which you probably won’t notice a few extra ponies.

Techart will announce pricing and availability for the body kit at a later date.

This Beautiful Widebody BMW 8 Series Hides an M5-Sourced V-10

BMW has only offered two generations of the 8 Series. Its first outing lasted almost a decade in the 1990s before the automaker stored the nameplate for nearly 20 years. The E31 died due to poor sales, ending the coupe’s run, but its sleek styling hasn’t been forgotten. Reyn Speed Shop has created a stunning one-off that it showed to the world during Monterey Car Week.

The car is called the 858 CSL, and it wears several new carbon fiber body panels to help reduce weight and earn the Competition Sport Lightweight badge. There are also new front and rear bumpers, wide boxy fender flares, bespoke headlights, and a vented hood. Unique alloy wheels feature the original BMW center caps. It’s a subtle stylistic upgrade that emphasizes the stock styling while adding a few unique twists.

The one-off also does away with the original engine—BMW offered V-8s and V-12s of various displacements—replacing it with the 5.0-liter V-10 from the E60-generation M5. However, Reyn Speed Shop couldn’t leave well enough alone, so it increased the engine’s size to 5.8 liters with a longer stroke, and paired it with a six-speed manual transmission.

Reyn didn’t break down the modified engine’s new performance numbers, but the engine made 500 horsepower and 384 pound-feet of torque in the first E60s to roll off the line, which BMW sold from 2005 to 2010. The larger displacement likely equates to even more horsepower, but with Monterey Car Week over, you might have missed your chance to see the 858 CSL in person. But at least it exists. The first-generation 8 Series deserves more love.

Skoda Built a One-Off Sleeper Wagon with Big Power

If there’s one European mainstream car brand we’d like to have in the United States, it would have to be Skoda. It sells sensible cars that are typically a lot more spacious than segment rivals. Some would also argue they’re nicer than the equivalent Volkswagen models. We’d certainly take the Superb over the Passat, but this is no ordinary version of the company’s flagship.

Based on the previous-generation model, this Superb Estate Sleeper Edition does what it says on the tin. It’s been transformed into a fast and powerful wagon while retaining the original look as much as possible. The standard car already had some juicy specs (for a Skoda that is) by packing 272 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, enabling a sprint to 62 mph in 5.6 seconds. This long-roof barge now pushes out a meaty 470 hp and 488 lb-ft.

Commissioned by Skoda UK and built in collaboration with UK tuning shop RE Performance, the one-off Superb is a swan song for the old Superb. Unlocking that extra oomph was possible by installing a Garrett turbocharger while changing the fuel system, intercooler, and intake. Aside from tuning the 2.0-liter mill, the engineers also installed a height-adjustable KW coilover suspension and AP Racing brakes.

The Sleeper sits nearly two inches closer to the road for a more aggressive stance and sharper handling than the regular Superb wagon. Another modification made to the roomy all-rounder is the exhaust as it now has a custom downpipe. The large wagon retains the all-wheel-drive system and seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission of the standard car.

The team behind this one-of-a-kind wagon was also responsible for the fastest Skoda ever, a 600-horsepower Octavia that hit 227 mph at the Bonneville Salt Flats in 2011. This Superb started off as the Laurin & Klement, the range-topping trim named after the company’s founding fathers. That means it has everything from leather upholstery and three-zone AC to a Canton sound system and matrix LED headlights.

For the Superb Mk3’s sendoff–Mk4 if we consider the original RWD model with V-6 and V-8 engines–Skoda UK chose a car painted in Royal Green. It was a special color launched last year to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III. This beefy wagon isn’t for sale as it will join Skoda UK’s press fleet.

The latest Superb is disappointingly less powerful than its predecessor since Skoda has dialed down the 2.0 TSI to 261 hp. It hasn’t said why, although it’s likely due to increasingly stricter emissions regulations in Europe. Unlike its modern predecessors developed by Volkswagen, the new generation was actually engineered by Skoda. It continues as a liftback and wagon but the corresponding Passat model is only offered in the more practical body style.

Ford Probe Ghia Concept Reportedly Burns to the Ground in Monterey

A classic Ford concept car has seemingly been destroyed in a fire on Sunday night during Monterey Car Week. While nothing’s been confirmed, evidence points to a fiery end for the Ford Probe I concept car from 1979, penned by Ghia.

Tiktok user Exoticsimage shared a video of a car trailer on fire, though it’s difficult to see what’s inside.

Commenters in the post claimed the car was the Ford Probe I concept, which led us to a post in the Monterey Car Week Facebook group showing the aftermath. The car is still difficult to spot, but we see a wedge shape and solid wheel covers that look just like those from the concept. That led us to the Scott Grundfor Company on Instagram, which confirms the car was indeed at Pebble Beach on Sunday.

According to the Scott Grundfor Co. website, the company owns the concept. It’s one of several Probe concepts built from 1979 through 1985, designed to showcase advanced aerodynamic designs with an emphasis on fuel efficiency. The Probe I wasn’t just a mock-up either. It used a modified Fox platform that was slightly longer versus the then-new 1979 Mustang. A turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine was under the hood, driving the rear wheels. Inside, the Probe I concept had a full interior littered gloriously digital 1980s tech.

Ford would eventually build five Probe concepts with Ghia styling, pointing the way to a more aero-focused future that ultimately influenced the Ford Taurus and the Probe production car—a vehicle originally intended to be the new Mustang. It all began with the first concept in 1979, and it now appears the car is gone for good.

We’re awaiting confirmation that the concept was destroyed and details on how the fire started. We’ll jump in with an update as more details become available.

Rimac Is Building a Single-Seat Track-Only Hypercar

Rimac is planning to build a track-only hypercar with a single, centralized seating position, CEO Mate Rimac confirmed to Motor1 on Friday.

“Now we have decided to not just push the limits in road cars, but also in racing on track,” Rimac told Motor1. “So we are building a track car, a single seater that’s going to be faster than any race car for most tracks. Faster than Formula 1, faster than Le Mans.”

This type of car is a big departure for the Croatian performance brand, which has previously only built two-seater electric cars for the road. Rimac went on to say the car will have a closed-canopy-style cockpit, and would not be based on the Nevera but rather sit on its own, distinct platform.

“We will probably show you this year and do the first track events next year,” Rimac told Motor1.

When asked whether Rimac plans to launch a spec series with the car, Mate said the company plans to set some new records first. The CEO confirmed to Motor1 the single-seater will be a track-only vehicle, will no road-going intentions. But it won’t conform to any existing ruleset, either.

“Safety is there but everything else? No rules,” Rimac said. “[It will go] beyond Formula 1 or LMP rules.”

The news of a new Rimac comes just hours after the brand showed off its latest creation, the Nevera R. A more focused version of the all-electric hypercar, the Nevera R makes 2,107 horsepower, with a claimed 0-60 time of 1.74 seconds, a quarter-mile time of 8.23 seconds, and a top speed of 256 mph. We can only imagine how much quicker things can get without the constraints of road-legality.

Acura Confirms ‘NSX-Type’ EV Headed to Production

After years of rumors, Acura finally confirmed plans to build an “NSX-type” EV.

“We are going to introduce a [new] sports model in 2027 or 2028,” global executive vice president Shinji Aoyama told a group of journalists, including Motor1, during a roundtable interview at Monterey Car Week.

“We may not call it an NSX, but it’s kind of an NSX-type of vehicle,” Aoyama added.

He went on to say the car would ride on Honda’s new 0 (Zero) Series electric architecture, which will underpin its first electric sedan set to launch in 2026.

A third-generation NSX has been rumored since 2021, when Acura vice president and brand officer Jon Ikeda said in an interview that “there’s gonna be another NSX.”

“Our development approach for this new 0 Series [car] is thin and light,” Aoyama said. “So this means, basically, how to make the platform thinner than other existing vehicles. So even [with battery dimensions], we are trying to make a thinner vehicle. So that we can realize a lower-height vehicle. This means that we can realize a larger [cabin], as well.”

An all-electric NSX would have big shoes to fill. The last version, which ended production in 2022, used a twin-turbo V-6 and three electric motors to make a combined 600 horsepower (in Type S form). It looked great and handled well, able to take the fight to contemporaries like the McLaren 650S, Lamborghini Huracán, and Ferrari 488.

While straight-line speed won’t be a problem for the NSX(ish) EV, handling and track endurance remain a question mark for even the most expensive electric supercars on the market today. Plus there’s the issue of sound. The second-gen NSX’s V-6 doesn’t exactly ignite the soul, but it sounds a whole lot more appealing than the whir of a few electric motors. We’ll just have to wait until 2027 to find out what Honda has in store.

Jeff Perez contributed to this report.

The Cadillac Opulent Velocity Concept Will Teach You How to Drive in Real-Time

A few weeks ago, Cadillac revealed the Sollei concept, a stunning convertible that felt like something we could see in the brand’s lineup very soon. Today, the automaker looks further into its future with Opulent Velocity, a new concept that envisions what the V-Series brand could look like when autonomy, luxury, and performance exist in the same all-electric package.

Cadillac is light on powertrain details for the Opulent Velocity, calling the concept an “experience-based design study.” It focused on crafting two distinct user experiences controlled by a physical switch in the cantilevered center console. Opulent mode engages the car’s Level 4 autonomous capability for a hands-free driving experience. Velocity mode presents the steering wheel and pedals for the driver to take full control. But this concept is about much more than drive modes.

Cadillac

The increased processing power needed for higher levels of autonomous driving will allow Cadillac to craft unique user experiences inside the cabin. The extra computational oomph could power software capable of teaching drivers the best line around the track on-demand, using the concept’s full windshield and augmented reality head-up display for a “ghost car” function like in video games.

“Ultimately, it’s how fast can I go around the track, what’s my best time, and what’s the best way to do it, and if I can enable that better through the tech, what are the opportunities?” Bryan Nesbit, the executive director of Global Cadillac Design, said in a statement. “And that’s really what this study is about.”

The Opulent Velocity is also a testbed for new battery packaging, cooling technologies, and finishes. It has big butterfly doors, making ingress and egress easier due to the concept’s low hip-point. Cadillac experimented with the brand’s vertical lighting signature and took a departure with the rear lights while illuminating the grille, badge, wheel center caps, and wheel spokes.

Cadillac

Cadillac

Inside, Cadillac designed a cabin that wraps around its occupants. It’s supposed to feel light and floaty, according to the brand. While the full windscreen display and augmented HUD will relay info to the driver, the steering wheel also features a screen.

Cadillac’s V-Series brand celebrates its 20th anniversary this year, bringing in new, young, college-educated buyers into the brand. The automaker wants to build on that success, and the Opulent Velocity previews what those buyers and fans could own and drive one day. The concept will made its public debut on Friday a The Quail during Monterey Car Week.

The Ruf Rodeo Is a 911-Shaped Off-Roader With Big Turbo Power
  • The 2025 Ruf Rodeo is a custom off-road sports car heavily inspired by the classic Porsche 911.
  • It has a carbon monocoque chassis, carbon fiber body panels, and a water-cooled flat-six turbo engine making over 600 horsepower.
  • The car is production-ready; pricing and availability will be announced at a later date.

Off-roading in a Porsche isn’t anything new, but Ruf’s take on a safari 911 is something special. Amid the suspension lift, off-road tires, and upgraded flat six you’ll find leather … lots of leather. Say hello to the 2025 Ruf Rodeo.

If that name sounds familiar, it should. Ruf created a Rodeo concept back in 2020 that also had some visual shock value. This time around, Ruf says the interior adopts a “Western Americana theme” and draws inspiration from the Ralph Lauren Ranch. Acres of brown leather extend across the dash, the center console, door panels, and portions of the seats. The rest is a literal patchwork of fabric with vibrant stitching that evokes the American West. Its heart may have originated in Germany, but in Ruf’s hands, this 911-themed machine looks more at home in an old John Wayne film.

Ruf

It looks western on the inside, but classic 911 lines define the exterior. The body is made of carbon fiber and features integrated door handles, a plethora of air intakes, and a ducktail spoiler at the back. It looks comically small tucked between the aggressively flared rear fenders.

We suspect the Ruf Rodeo needs every inch of that space, too. Between those fenders is a turbocharged 3.6-liter flat-six making 610 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. It’s a water-cooled mill, powering all four wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. You’ll find double-wishbone suspension with horizontal pushrod dampers on the front and rear axles, and 9.6 inches of ground clearance thanks to its knobby 18-inch tires clawing at the dirt. Six-piston brakes handle stopping power in front, with four-piston clamps are on the back.

Ruf

Despite its burly appearance and all-wheel-drive powertrain, Ruf keeps the Rodeo’s weight to 2,756 pounds. Credit goes to the aforementioned carbon fiber body and a lightweight carbon monocoque chassis, which is also infused with an integrated steel roll cage. It’s not light on options, either. It has power windows, locks, air conditioning; everything you need for a cozy road trip through places without roads. One thing it doesn’t have is an infotainment system. Between the leather convention happening inside and 610 hp at the back, we suspect there’s plenty to keep driver and passenger occupied.

Ruf

“We wanted to create a car that evokes a sense of nostalgia while benefitting from the thrill of modern technology that can let you go anywhere,” Ruf boss Alois Ruf Jr. said in a statement. “We have a deep sense of connection to the beauty of the American West and wanted to honor that in the Rodeo. And, most importantly, we wanted to create something fun.”

Expect more information on pricing and availability soon.

We’re Not Sure How to Feel About This Lamborghini Diablo Restomod
  • The Eccentricia V12 is a modern take on the Lamborghini Diablo.
  • It runs a 550-horsepower, 5.7-liter V-12 engine with a six-speed manual transmission, paired with a modernized interior and suspension.
  • Just 19 examples are planned for production, with deliveries beginning next summer.

A little over a year ago, Eccentrica Cars announced its intentions to build a Lamborghini Diablo restomod. A nice set of computer-rendered photos accompanied the announcement, showing a neat but as-yet non-existent Diablo. Now, the company has delivered on its pledge with the Eccentrica V12—a “fully drivable vehicle” that makes its debut at The Quail.

On the outside, it certainly looks like a Diablo. The 19-inch wheels are decidedly new, but it looks like the “pop-down” headlights from last year’s concept are gone. Old-fashioned pop-ups are still in place, positioned above a sharp fascia with integrated LED running lights. Restyled vents, flared front wheel arches with side sills, and a new engine cover round out the major upgrades to the exterior. It’s certainly a clean look.

Essentrica Cars

Things are clean inside, too. Eccentrica Cars merged the classic Diablo’s interior with modern items like a digital driver display and infotainment system that extends nearly to the center of the dash. There are several switches and buttons on the center console, and there’s also an honest-to-goodness gated manual gear lever. It doesn’t shift an old Lamborghini transmission, though. There’s an updated six-speed manual with different ratios sending power to the rear wheels.

As for the engine, it’s an upgraded 5.7-liter Lambo V-12. Eccentrica adds new camshafts, a new electronic throttle body, and a new flywheel. There’s also a custom center-exit exhaust system bolted up, and it all results in a maximum output of 550 horsepower and 442 pound-feet of torque. Moreover, the company says the power delivery is smoother and more progressive versus a stock Diablo. Honestly, we aren’t sure if that’s better or worse in this case.

Essentrica Cars

The chassis and suspension are upgraded, too. It rides on active dampers and incorporates a front-lift system to help clear those pesky speed bumps. Composite reinforcements are added, though Eccentrica doesn’t offer details on the changes. Brembo brakes are bolted up at the corners, and drivers will enjoy standard power steering.

“The Eccentrica V12 is a personal passion project, born from my lifelong admiration for the Lamborghini Diablo,” said Eccentrica Founder and President Emanuel Colombini. “While I have such admiration for the original design, I wanted to enhance the driving experience.
What you see here today is the result of our engineering team going to work to deliver a car that transcends the boundaries of what has previously been achievable in technology and performance.”

If all goes according to plan, deliveries of 19 planned production cars will begin in the summer of 2025.
